Rolex GMT-Master II Worn on the Moon

The first Rolex watch to land on the moon is now revealed.

In February 1971 Apollo 14 landed on the moon with astronauts Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell. While Apollo astronauts are famous for having received the Omega Speedmaster Professional, It is said that Edgar Mitchell wore a Rolex GMT-Master Ref. 1675 at that time.

This watch is considered the first to be worn on the moon. On the back of the dial is engraved "Worn by CDR. E. Mitchell on Apollo 14 in 1971 - To my daughter Karlyn." This watch appeared at the renowned RR Auction, Which specializes in space memorabilia. RR Auction estimates the final bid for Mitchell’s GMT-Master will exceed $400, 000. The auction closes on October 25 and the winning bidder will receive a certificate of authenticity signed by Edgar Mitchell himself.
