The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph "Jacques-Yves Cousteau Expedition" Edition (Ref. IW376805) is an iconic diver’s watch from IWC, Created to honor Jacques-Yves Cousteau, The legendary ocean explorer and pioneer of scuba diving. This model was released in 2014 and carries special significance as a portion of the proceeds is donated to marine environmental protection activities through a partnership with the Cousteau Foundation. It is distinguished by its unique color combination and robust performance. 1. Main Specifications (Specs) • Case: Diameter 44.0 mm, Thickness 17.0 mm, Stainless steel material • Dial: Deep blue (signature blue) dial with orange accents inspired by Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s iconic red beanie • Movement: IWC Caliber 79320 (automatic chronograph based on ETA Valjoux 7750, 44-hour power reserve) • Water resistance: 30 Bar (300 meters) water resistance • Strap: Black rubber strap with IWC’s patented quick-change system, Allowing easy replacement without tools 2. Key Design and Functional Features • SafeDive System: IWC’s unique unidirectional rotating bezel system, Where turning the external bezel moves the internal bezel in sync. The external bezel rotates both ways, But the internal bezel only moves counterclockwise (the safe direction), Preventing divers from accidentally extending their dive time. • Dual-color Super-LumiNova: Multiple luminous colors are used to maximize visibility underwater and in the dark. The minute hand and the 15-minute marker on the bezel, Which are related to dive time, Glow green, While the hour hand and indices glow blue, Allowing for intuitive time distinction. • Cousteau Engraved Case Back: The solid case back is finely engraved with the iconic image of Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau wearing his trademark beanie, Enhancing its value as a special edition. • Excellent Wearing Comfort: Despite its robust tool watch form with a 44mm diameter and 17mm thickness, The short and sharply downward-curved lugs provide a stable and comfortable fit even for users with relatively slim wrists (15–16cm circumference). This is originally a rubber band model. The rubber band was replaced with a genuine one due to age and has seen little use since, So its condition is excellent. The genuine bracelet, Which was purchased separately for about 2 million KRW, Is also in great condition. The bracelet is currently sized for my wrist, Which measures approximately 16.5cm, And there is one extra link included. The current daily deviation is about 3 seconds, Which is good. I understand that it was overhauled about three years ago, But this is not certain. Other items included are the outer box, Inner box, A small booklet, A genuine microfiber cloth, And two pins for adjusting the bracelet. There are, Of course, Signs of use overall, But I do not see any noticeable scratches or dings, And I believe there are no issues that would affect daily wear.
