Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue: The perfect blend of vintage sensibility and modern technology
Since its launch in 2012, The Tudor Black Bay collection has established itself as Tudor’s signature diver’s watch line, Combining vintage sensibility with modern technology. This collection has played an important role in establishing Tudor’s independent identity beyond the Rolex sub-brand image, And has gained worldwide popularity by embodying both tradition and innovation.
In particular, In 2020, Tudor further enhanced the appeal of this series by introducing the Black Bay 58 (Ref. M79030B-0001). Following the success of the black dial model released in 2018, The blue dial version adds a more sophisticated feel by applying the symbolic “blue color” of diver’s watches. This model is inspired by the Tudor Oyster Prince Submariner Ref. 7924 (aka “Big Crown”) released in 1958, And is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional specifications of a 39 mm case and 200 m water resistance.
The 39mm case and thin thickness (approximately 11.9mm) are comfortable to wear on the wrist and go well with small wrists, While the design gives the watch a larger appearance than it actually is. The combination of the classic proportions, Vintage rivet bracelet, Blue dial and bezel adds sophistication and is praised for going well with various styles. The success of the Black Bay 58 contributed greatly to Tudor’s move away from the image of a ‘second brand’ to Rolex and establishing itself as a brand with its own charm and heritage.
If the 2012 Black Bay series was a signal of the brand's revival, The Fifty-Eight is said to have further solidified Tudor's identity.
