This is the Rolex Datejust Thunderbird Classic Combi model. It is an early Rolex military pilot watch released in the 1960s and 1970s. At the time of its release, this watch was sold under the name Turn o Graph, but most people remember it by the name Thunderbird. Thunderbird is not the original name of this watch, but rather its nickname. There is an interesting backstory. The direct translation of 'Thunderbird' in Korean is 'Thunder Bird'. In 1953, Rolex created a special Datejust watch named after the Thunderbirds, one of the first aerobatic flying units in American history. This was the beginning of the Datejust Thunderbird Turn-O-Graph.
