To put it simply, Rolesor is a combination material that was created harmoniously by combining the strengths of two metals: hard steel and shiny gold. It is said to have been used since the early 1930s and was registered as Rolex's unique trademark in 1933.
The name itself gives you an idea of its origins. It is not an original word, but a compound word created by Rolex to enhance its exclusivity.
Rolex Rolex + or (gold in French) = Rolesor
Rolesor was registered as a unique trademark in 1933, but it began to be officially used in 1948 with the launch of Datejust.
For a long time, only two types of Rolesor were maintained: yellow Rolesor (yellow gold + steel) and white Rolesor (white gold + steel), but for the first time at Yacht Master in 2011, steel was introduced in Everose gold, a pinkish gold alloy. Everose Rolesor, a combination of The Everose Rolesor model has been expanded to include Datejust and GMT Master 2. The ‘root beer’ below is the representative Everose Rolesor.

Although watches made of combination materials are not only made by Rolex, the addition of the name Rolesor plays a significant role in the visual symbolizing Rolex.
What's unique is that among Datejust models, models with a steel bracelet and fluted bezel can also use the Rolesor name. Because the fluted bezel is made only of gold material.

Finally, there is Rolesium, which is a combination of platinum and steel. This material is currently only used on the Yacht Master model (Ref. 126622).

Models made of Rolesor and Rolesium seem to have become more easily established as Rolex's signature thanks to their names. Well, we'll be back next time with a more fun and informative watch story.
