Currently, all current products released by Rolex are mechanical and have an automatic drive method. However, in the past, Rolex also released quartz watches. This is the ‘Oyster Quartz’ lineup.

Rolex could not be free from the quartz wave that started with Japan's 'Grand Seiko' in the 1970s. In 1977, the self-developed quartz movement ‘Oyster Quartz’ began to be released, and the company produced quartz watches for nearly 30 years until 2001, when the lineup was discontinued. Contrary to the advantage of typical quartz models, which are small and light, they have heavy and thick cases and are relatively difficult to maintain, so they are said to have disappeared into history after about 25,000 were produced.
