Why is the Rolex hairspring blue?

Introduced by Rolex in 2005 Parachrome hairspringis blue in color. This color is obtained by anodizing Rolex's unique alloy of niobium, zirconium and oxygen to stop the oxidation process, and symbolizes the tradition of Rolex watchmaking. This special hairspring minimizes the effects of magnetic fields, maintains excellent stability even under temperature changes, and is highly resistant to external shocks and corrosion.
